“We’ve been there so you didn’t have to be”

TripCheck has been serving Oregonians for ten years! In that time, TripCheck has had over 140 million visits and captured three national awards. If you were to count the ‘hits’ to TripCheck, the number is over six billion. Along the way TripCheck has grown and changed to better serve the traveling public in Oregon.

2000: TripCheck is launched, replacing the Travel Advisor Web site.

2001: The TripCheck automated phone system rolls out (511 dialing is added in 2003).

2004: Major updates included

• Speed Map for the Portland area
• Alerts feature
• Announcements feature
• Custom Cams expanded to 10 cameras
• Travel Services section including hotels, restaurants and attractions
• Weather forecasts

2006: TripCheck data is made available to a wide array of users via the TripCheck Traveler Information Portal (TTIP).  ODOT also makes a major upgrade to our TripCheck service on cable television (TripCheck TV).

2007: Major advances include the launch of TripCheck/mobile for mobile devices and a new transit section on TripCheck (Transportation Options), greatly enhancing the multimodal side of TripCheck.

2008: Motion camera views are added to the Portland area cameras in a partnership with Trafficland Inc.

The future looks bright for TripCheck! ODOT has new features in the queue for 2010, including an IPhone version of our Mobile Web site and Twitter feeds of road condition information.
